Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

We are partnering with a highly regarded national engineering and project management organization to find a talented and motivated Design/Mechanical Engineer for their Brisbane, QLD office. This is an incredible opportunity to be part of a dynamic team, working on innovative infrastructure and engineering solutions across major projects such as Rail Maintenance Vehicles and Bulk Materials Handling Equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Undertake mechanical design using CAD packages (SolidWorks & AutoCAD)
• Perform engineering calculations and source components/equipment
• Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors during design and production
• Create sketches and designs to clearly communicate concepts
• Produce documentation including HAZOP, Risk Assessments, QA reports, and more
• Manage projects and contracts while ensuring high-quality output in line with customer needs and regulatory requirements

Skills & Experience:

• 5+ years\’ experience in mechanical engineering
• A Bachelor\’s in Mechanical Engineering or similar, with exposure to structural/machined components
• Proficient in SolidWorks and AutoCAD Mechanical (2D)
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Knowledge of Australian Standards and codes
• Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously
• Must be based in Australia with full working rights
• Experience with hydraulic systems, FEA, and electrical controls
• Mining and rail industry exposure is a plus
• Previous experience in drawing checking and project management
