1st Line Customer and Field Service Engineer

Join our team as a professional Customer and Field Service Engineer!

Location: Birmingham (Hybrid)
Hours: Full-time

Responsibilities

  1. Provide first-level technical support to end-users via phone, email, and remote tools.
  2. Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues promptly.
  3. Set up new computers, troubleshoot PCs, and perform basic system configurations.
  4. Create and manage support tickets, ensuring timely resolution.
  5. Collaborate with other team members to escalate complex issues when necessary.
  6. Maintain accurate documentation of incidents, solutions, and procedures.
  7. Provide ad hoc field support as and when required.
  8. Assist with new site installations.

Qualifications & Skills

  1. Certifications: Comptia A+, Network+ or Microsoft certified.
  2. Experience: Previous work in an MSP environment is essential.
  3. Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with Windows and Mac operating systems, hardware troubleshooting, and basic networking concepts. Understanding of PoE, CCTV and access control systems advantageous.
  4. Customer Service: Excellent communication skills and a customer-centric approach.
  5. Team Player: Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and contribute to a positive team environment.
  6. Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail and accuracy in documenting incidents and resolutions.
  7. Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving, adaptability, and time management skills.

Requirements

  1. Valid UK drivers licence.
  2. Reliable transport (reimbursive on a per mile basis).
  3. Service Desk experience.
  4. Must be able to work unsupervised.
  5. Work hours: Flexibility to work outside regular business hours if needed, including occasional overnight stayovers.
