An established, multidisciplinary consultancy is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor / Cost Manager to join their growing infrastructure team, working on a major rail project. This is a key hire offering strong progression prospects and exposure to high-profile schemes. While rail experience is beneficial, candidates from wider infrastructure sectors such as highways, water, utilities, and general civil engineering will also be considered.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading cost management across all stages of project delivery, including feasibility, pre-contract and post-contract phases
  • Preparing and developing detailed cost plans and estimates
  • Advising clients on procurement strategies and tender processes
  • Managing and interpreting NEC contracts (Essential)
  • Supporting the development of commercial strategies and reporting procedures
  • Providing commercial insight and risk management to ensure project delivery within budget
  • Liaising with stakeholders including clients, design teams, contractors and project managers

Required Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Cost Manager within infrastructure sectors
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts
  • Experience in pre-contract services and cost planning
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating with internal teams and clients
  • Chartered or working towards MRICS/MCIOB/APM (desirable but not essential)

Backgrounds Considered:

  • Consultancy (PQS) or Main contractor / Tier 1 contractor experience
  • Rail sector preferred, though those from highways, utilities, water or general civils are encouraged to apply
