Audience and Engagement Editor Sport

Newsquest Scotland seeks an energetic, dynamic editor to lead our Sports news team. You will be a talented wordsmith who can sniff out a good story while having a deep working knowledge of SEO and how to maximise the potential of your team\’s work on social media.

A demonstrable knowledge and deep understanding of Scottish football will be essential as will a strong desire to make your mark on our industry with your talent, passion and creativity.

You will have:

1. Digital journalism experience in a fast-paced newsroom and a track record of success in the field.
2. Skills to organise, delegate and the creative spark to come up with story ideas for yourself and others.
3. A journalistic background or academic qualification.
4. The desire to cover sports in a fresh, exciting way that engages fans.
5. A passion for multimedia and what it can add to the Scottish sports journalism landscape.
6. Experience of podcasting or appearing on video and be at ease with doing both.
7. An keen sense of how to shape our profiles on new and existing platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Threads, Bluesky and TikTok.
8. Knowledge of SEO and how it can help shape the success of your work.
