Research Project Manager

Job Title – Research Project Manager
Division (Weir Advanced Research Centre)
Location Glasgow (Hybrid)

Purpose of Role: To effectively manage an assigned subset of projects from the R&D portfolio across the complete project life cycle: from project initiation, through scope development to execution and finally knowledge transfer. This role is critical to ensuring that the research projects are developed in collaboration with the business, maintaining business relevance and alignment throughout, and executed at a pace to match the business demands.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Identifying and evaluating emergent R&D opportunities against business priorities by engaging with both internal and external stakeholders.
2. Defining new project scopes and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with academic and business stakeholders.
3. Managing research projects using established PM framework ensuring all projects are delivered on time, to scope and within the agreed budget.
4. Ensuring that any developed technology and knowledge is transferred to the relevant product and process roadmaps and technology groups.
5. Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviours in support of our drive towards developing a world class safety culture.

Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:

1. Any equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered for candidates that have the ability to perform the objectives above.
2. Possessing or actively pursuing a Professional Qualification.
3. Excellent communication skills, ensuring that project team members understand key messages and expectations.
4. Good understanding of research projects and funding applications is desirable.
