H&S Advisor

Food Manufacturing

Manchester

£45,000 – £50,000 + 5% Bonus and 18% Combined Pension

How about joining a business as an established H&S Advisor with a development pathway to a H&S Management role? Does that sound interesting?

Health & Safety (H&S) often risks becoming a tick-box exercise, but for this food manufacturing site, H&S is taken seriously and has genuine buy-in from the entire team. You’ll be joining a business with a mature approach to H&S, where accidents are reported, ideas are actively shared, and H&S is driven by a passionate Site Lead who values safety and engagement.

After a period of stability, your primary focus will be to engage the team further, refine processes, and advance the company’s long-term H&S strategy. Reporting directly to the Site Lead, you’ll have full Senior Leadership Team (SLT) support to drive impactful changes and promote a safe, inclusive environment.

The Role

While the long-term H&S strategy is set at the site level, this stand-alone role blends hands-on and strategic work, providing you with the autonomy to drive improvements and shape on-site H&S practices as you see fit.

Your Background

A background in manufacturing is essential, ideally within food production, although most FMCG experience is transferable. Key areas of expertise include:

  • ISO 45001: Thorough knowledge of clauses, along with experience in conducting annual reviews and audits.
  • Asbestos Management: Skilled in conducting risk assessments, management surveys, and developing asbestos management plans.
  • DSEAR: Understanding of different zones and their associated requirements.
  • Legionella: Knowledge of the duty holder’s responsibilities and relevant safety requirements.
  • PUWER: Familiarity with Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations.
  • Legal Register: Experience managing the H&S legal register, implementing, and demonstrating compliance with key legal requirements.

Personality is key in this role. You’ll be joining a close-knit team with a mix of long-serving and newer members. They’re committed to their work, enjoy a laugh, and value a team culture where everyone is seen as equally important.

If this sounds like the opportunity you’re looking for, please apply below. If your application is suitable, we’ll reach out for a confidential conversation.
