We are seeking a Data Analyst to join the ITV Insight Group’s Content Analytics function. Embedded within the content insights team, the analyst plays a crucial role in shaping the business’s understanding of content performance in the UK, developing and maximising the benefit of our data products to monitor evolving viewer behaviours and find opportunities in an exciting, highly competitive and increasingly complex media landscape.
As part of a cross-functional team you will partner with business leaders and key stakeholders to understand their challenges and identify and answer the “big questions”. You will work closely with Insight Managers, Data Scientists and Data Engineers to innovate, inform and impact decision-making. You will sharpen your technical skills to create outcome-focused insight for the content commissioning and editorial teams and wider business while thinking critically and collaboratively to build relationships and create recommendations that balance the requirements of your clients with ITV’s wider strategic objectives.
The team ITV is on a mission to Supercharge Streaming and Optimise Broadcast with data and insight right at the centre of our digital transformation strategy. The business faces many challenges ahead to achieve this vision:
- What content should we commission?
- Which audiences are the most commercially attractive for us?
- What should our marketing strategy be?
- How do we optimise our product to improve view through rates?
- How do we use VOD to offset declines to Linear?

Responsibilities:
- Provision of accurate and insightful analysis on how our viewers engage and consume the nation’s best-loved and most-watched content, across broadcast, VOD or SVOD (Subscription Video on Demand).
- Communicating insight to stakeholders from technical leads to copywriters in a strategically-minded and impactful manner.
- Analysing audience journeys to content, and providing insight on our content and viewers to drive business value.
- Promoting and embedding data experimentation and innovation within the content space to drive growth and value across the streaming and broadcast business.
- Building relationships with stakeholders and helping embed new methodologies and ways of working in decision making processes.
- Building innovative analytical solutions to cover issues such as content release strategies and clusters, or viewer segmentations that ladder up to our KPIs.
- As part of a cross-functional team, developing and embedding dashboarding solutions for business stakeholders, enabling a culture of self-service analytics.
- Collaborating with subject matter experts across a range of disciplines, including Insight Managers, Data Scientists, Analysts and Data stakeholders to drive projects forward.
Skills you’ll need (minimum criteria):
- Data analytics experience and experience using SQL to analyse large datasets on Data lakes or EDWs.
- Ability to create insightful analysis and dashboards.
- An understanding of BARB and the ability to run, analyse and provide performance ratings.
- Comfortable presenting analysis across a range of formats (Google and Microsoft applications (i.e google slides, microsoft excel) and experience with data visualisation tools such as Tableau or Looker Studio.
- Strong analytical skills, including a solid grasp of statistical concepts and techniques, with the ability to synthesise data from multiple sources to deliver data-driven insights aligned with stakeholder needs; underpinned by a deep understanding of ITV’s full range of programmes, channels, and its position within the global media landscape.
Other things we’re looking for (key criteria):
- Experience working with cloud-based platforms such as GCP (BigQuery), AWS (Redshift) and Databricks preferable.
- Keen problem solver who can demonstrate critical thinking, coupled with strong communication skills.
- Ability to work in a collaborative and cross-functional environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and proactive in preventing errors.
- Passionate viewer of television.
