The Haven Project is a well respected service providing effective, high quality support for parents involved in care proceedings in the Liverpool family courts. By providing intensive one-to-one and group support they aim to help reduce parents’ sense of stress and isolation; enable parents to participate fully in the court process; promote positive, lasting change.

Job Summary

They are looking for two part-time Project Workers to help us expand their service for parents both during and after court. Each worker will hold a small case load of parents and provide support that includes:

• attending court hearings and key meetings with parents and acting as an advocate where needed
• accompanying parents to the first and follow up meetings with specialist services i.e. drugs/alcohol, mental health, domestic abuse
• providing the emotional and practical support parents require
• linking parents in to relevant community groups to develop positive support networks.

You must have at least two years experience of direct work with adults or families in a voluntary or statutory setting, particularly in working with people who have difficulty engaging with services. As an organisation we work closely with parent’s solicitors and, as such, don’t provide legal advice ourselves. Prior knowledge of the court process is therefore not essential, full training will be provided.
