Job Summary: The Developmental Specialist provides direct care and case management services for a designated group of clients. This is a non-exempt position.

Essential Functions:

  • Develops and implements Day Habilitation Service Plans, IDT, goals, and activities for assigned clients, helping them identify and develop measurable, personalized plans based on their strengths and needs.
  • Teaches developmental skills to enhance independence, including self-care, communication, self-advocacy, self-direction, and activities of daily living such as hygiene, grooming, first aid, and meal preparation.
  • Leads group activities to support Service Plan goals, supervises direct care staff, and ensures program needs are met.
  • Documents daily participant activities and assesses progress toward Service Plan objectives, recording updates in progress notes by the 15th of each month.
  • Offers supportive counseling to participants on personal and social issues.
  • Provides services respectfully, adhering to human rights standards, DDS regulations, and organizational policies.
  • Reports health concerns to the Healthcare Supervisor and provides emergency interventions and physical assistance when necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Program Director.

Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • TB screening within the past 12 months and annually thereafter.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid Massachusetts driver’s license.
  • Maintains required certifications including CPR and First Aid.
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds and assist individuals with mobility impairments using proper safety protocols.
