We are looking for a Learning Support Assistant in the Whitehaven area to start in September full time. The position is to support young people in the classroom with SEMH and Autism, some of the pupils will also have learning disabilities. You will be working in an inclusive educational environment where the Teachers and Senior Leadership take a person-centered approach to education. The educational objectives are designed to the pupils’ learning ability.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will be supporting the teacher to deliver lessons that are creative and dynamic to engage the pupil and improve their learning experience.

The ideal person for the role:

  • Will be outgoing and friendly.
  • Has an understanding of Autism and Challenging Behaviour.
  • Offers consistency in the classroom.
  • Has a proactive approach to supporting learners, as well as supporting and respecting their needs.
  • May have a degree qualification or a qualification in coaching, a TA qualification, or a social care qualification.

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do, and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such, we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education, you will be paid on a weekly basis.
