REPORTING TO: Construction Partners
JOB PURPOSE: As a Legal Director or Senior Associate in our Transactional Construction team, you will play a pivotal role in advising clients on a wide range of legal matters related to construction and infrastructure projects. This position offers the opportunity to work in a stimulating and creative working environment and be part of an ambitious and friendly team.
CORE TASKS:
- Advise and work with a broad cross section of developers, contractors, funders and professionals on transactional construction matters and work closely with our Real Estate team in particular.
- Advise on stand-alone construction/engineering projects (both on developer side and advising contractors in relation to main building contract terms and sub-contracts).
- Advising on the construction aspects of some cutting-edge energy projects.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and point of contact.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated legal solutions tailored to clients' needs.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, legal developments, and best practices in construction law.
- Mentor and support junior team members, fostering their professional growth and development.
- Contribute to business development initiatives, including client pitches and proposals.
- Participate in thought leadership activities, such as writing articles and delivering presentations.
- Be aware of Brodies' information security policies, and protect information assets from unauthorised access, disclosure, modification, destruction or interference at all times.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
- Qualified solicitor in Scotland or England & Wales with a minimum of 7-8 years of post-qualification experience in transactional construction.
- Proven track record of advising clients on complex construction projects and related legal matters.
- Strong knowledge of construction contracts, including JCT, NEC, and FIDIC forms as well as bespoke contracts.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to delivering high-quality work and exceptional client service.
- Commercial awareness and strategic thinking.
