An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Engineering Support Assistant to join our established team at B&Q Worksop. This challenging and exciting role will appeal to an individual with experience, drive, determination, and enthusiasm.
THE ROLE:
- To assist in the general day-to-day running of the site engineering operation, carry out first-line fixes on non (A)HME equipment, to ensure downtime is kept to a minimum.
- The role is part of the formation of the in-house engineering team at the B&Q site, Worksop.
- To service and maintain the Company’s property and equipment as instructed by the Engineering Manager, in accordance with the set schedules and manufacturers’ recommendations.
- To carry out reactive repairs and fault diagnosis on the Company’s property/equipment both indoors and outside the building.
- To comply with standard Health & Safety at Work responsibilities.
- To work flexible hours according to the needs of the business and site operations.
- To participate in standby duties and attend the site outside normal working hours in case of emergencies.
- To undertake duties assigned by the Engineering Manager related to the safety and operation of the site.
KEY SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Administrative skills, proficiency with PC
- Experience repairing mechanical systems, sub-assemblies, and components
- Experience working in an automated warehouse environment
- Educated to City and Guilds/BTECH standard or with a minimum of 5 years mechanical engineering experience
- Welding skills (MIG/stick, etc.)
- Working knowledge of conveyors and related equipment
- Strong systematic problem-solving skills for mechanical components
