As a Mechanical Services Design Engineer, you will design mechanical systems like ventilation, heating, air conditioning, chillers, and air source heat pumps, with a focus on fluid designs for decarbonisation projects. You will work with healthcare and local government clients, sizing ductwork, pipework, and selecting plant such as pumps and boilers. You will calculate building heat losses and gains using AC Calc software, produce technical submissions, and ensure all designs meet industry standards. Site visits for surveys and meetings will also be required.

How You Will Do It
You will collaborate with a team of professionals, working together to deliver exceptional design solutions from project conception to completion. You will use your knowledge of building regulations and industry standards, such as CIBSE, BESA, and Water Regulations, to ensure compliance. Site surveys and addressing design-related issues throughout the project lifecycle will be part of your responsibilities. While you will use AutoCAD in your designs, the majority of the drawings will be completed by other team members, so you will focus on the technical and design aspects.
Required What we look for
- At least 10 years of experience in mechanical services design.
- Strong expertise in fluid designs, particularly air source heat pumps, chillers, and decarbonisation projects.
- Competence in AutoCAD and technical submissions.
- Experience with site surveys and preparing reports.
- Understanding of building regulations and industry standards.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred
- Experience with NHS HTM specifications.
- Knowledge of healthcare and local government decarbonisation projects.
- Experience in a project-based environment where design work is handed over to project managers for implementation.
