Career Teachers is seeking a dedicated and experienced Design Technology (DT) Technician to join a secondary school based in Wolverhampton on a full-time temporary basis (term time only) starting September 2024. This role is pivotal in supporting the Design and Technology Department, ensuring that all equipment and resources are maintained to the highest standards, and assisting in the delivery of outstanding educational experiences.

Responsibilities of the role include:

  • Prepare, maintain, and manage tools, equipment, and materials for Design and Technology lessons.
  • Provide technical support and assistance to teachers during practical lessons.
  • Ensure all equipment and materials are safe and ready for use, adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new projects and practical activities.
  • Manage the inventory of materials and equipment, placing orders as necessary.
  • Support students in the use of equipment and materials, fostering a safe and productive learning environment.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Relevant qualifications in Design and Technology or related field.
  • Have a minimum of 6 months experience working in a school setting as a DT Technician.
  • Proficient with design and technology tools and equipment.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety practices within a workshop environment.
  • Effective communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • A passion for education and a commitment to supporting students' learning experiences.

Eligibility to work within the UK:

  • Hold an enhanced DBS check on the update service or be willing to undertake a new one.
  • Have up-to-date safeguarding training; Career Teachers offer a FREE online Safeguarding training course.
  • Able to provide a minimum of 2 x references to cover the last 2 years of employment history.
