Job Title: Assistant Headteacher – Inclusion and SEND
Location: New Barn School, Newbury, RG20 8HZ
Salary: Up to £53,000 per annum
Contract: Permanent, Term Time only

We are recruiting for an Assistant Headteacher – Inclusion and SEND at New Barn School in Newbury. The school supports pupils aged 6 to 19 with social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH) and other complex needs.
Who we are looking for
We seek an Assistant Headteacher to lead on Inclusion, with experience working with young people with complex learning needs and SEMH. The candidate should understand how these needs impact learning and behaviour, and be capable of fostering a culture of excellence for learners and staff. Knowledge of curriculum design and quality assurance is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Headteacher in achieving high educational standards through strategic and operational leadership.
- Lead areas such as Careers and Work Experience, Enrichment, Trips and Visits, PSHE, and Staff training on personal development.
- Model outstanding classroom practice and demonstrate visible leadership through school duties and stakeholder engagement.
