Transport planning assistant

Temp Station is delighted to announce that we are currently recruiting a Transport Planning Assistant to join a busy and established freight forwarding client in the Normanton WF6 area on a permanent basis.

Transport Planning Assistant Job Description:

1. Assist in ensuring the planned runs are achieved in a timely manner, exceeding customer needs.
2. Communicate with the operations department, customers, and hauliers.
3. Manage all PODs, upload them into the TMS, and send any POD requests to the customer or colleague.
4. Keep the transport and sub-contractor log up to date.
5. Speak to drivers throughout the day, check on progress, and deal with any issues that may arise during the shift.
6. Follow and improve processes linked to performance.
7. Book out-of-area or hazardous jobs onto the pallet network/Hazchem portals.
8. Provide quotes internally and externally via calls and emails.
9. Provide holiday cover for the planners.
10. Lead the planning team during periods of annual leave throughout the year.
11. Minimum requirements:

• At least 3 years’ experience working in a fast-paced transport department.
• Understanding of drivers\’ working hours and driving time regulations.
• Good geographical understanding of the UK road networks.
