This role will act as the lead client-side representative, interfacing directly with the Systems Integrator (SI) to ensure that the SAP implementation is aligned with the full upstream business landscape—from exploration to production, logistics, and commercial operations. The successful candidate will play a critical role in delivering a fit-for-purpose S/4HANA solution and safeguarding business continuity throughout the transformation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary SAP functional lead on behalf of the client for a major upstream SAP transformation.
  • Oversee and validate solution design, configuration, and delivery across SAP S/4HANA IS-Oil components, with a strong focus on upstream operations.
  • Represent the client's interests during interactions with the Systems Integrator and challenge solution proposals where necessary.
  • Ensure business process alignment across the upstream landscape, including exploration, drilling, production, hydrocarbon supply chain, and revenue accounting.
  • Lead fit-gap analysis, ensuring upstream requirements are captured and effectively translated into system configuration.
  • Maintain oversight of key IS-Oil modules and components, including:
  • Hydrocarbon Product Management (HPM)
  • Trader’s and Scheduler’s Workbench (TSW)
  • Joint Venture Accounting (JVA)
  • Production Sharing Accounting (PSA)
  • Upstream Operations Management (UOM)
  • Revenue Distribution and PRA (Production and Revenue Accounting)
  • Provide governance across the project lifecycle, including design reviews, testing, cutover planning, and hypercare.
  • Manage stakeholder engagement across IT, finance, operations, and field teams.
  • Support quality assurance, issue resolution, and risk mitigation activities.
  • Required Experience & Skills

    • 10+ years of SAP experience, with at least 5 years in upstream oil and gas environments.
    • Minimum of 3 full lifecycle SAP implementations, including one or more involving S/4HANA IS-Oil.
    • Deep expertise in S/4HANA upstream modules and functionality, with a proven ability to interpret and translate complex operational needs.
    • Strong understanding of the end-to-end upstream value chain, including asset lifecycle management, field data capture, well management, and hydrocarbon accounting.
    • Proven experience working client-side or as a transformation advisor, managing integrator relationships and ensuring delivery quality.
    • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

    Desirable

    • SAP certifications in S/4HANA and IS-Oil components.
    • Familiarity with data migration tools, Fiori apps, and middleware platforms (e.g., SAP PI/PO, SAP BTP/CPI).
    • Experience with UKCS regulations, joint venture operations, and cost recovery models.
