Our client based in Sale is looking for a Trainee Accountant to join their team in a fast-paced accountancy firm. You would be joining a 50-strong workforce of a well-established business with a positive culture and thriving office environment. You will work with a wide range of SMEs across various sectors, overseeing and assisting in the preparation of year-end accounts and related submissions for manager review.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Accounts preparation and submission under FRS105 and FRS102 (1A)
- Tax computations (personal and corporate)
- Bookkeeping on various software packages, primarily Xero
- Managing a client portfolio
- Holding meetings with new and existing clients
- Other ad hoc duties
The Trainee Accountant role also involves:
- Coordinating with other departments such as payroll and audit
- Proactively communicating with clients
- Planning workload, managing deadlines, and prioritising tasks
- Conducting processes with a risk-managed approach and high standards
- Ensuring the integrity and completeness of supporting information on accounting records and internal document storage, providing a full audit trail and transparency
Required qualifications and experience:
- 4-5 years of experience in practice (part-qualified or AAT)
- Experience with Xero cloud software and related applications, accounts production, and tax software
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot tables, Vlookups, SUMIFS)
- Strong customer service skills and ability to build client relationships
- Experience mentoring and coaching junior colleagues
