The Client

Our client was founded in 1990 with the aim of building homes for people with learning disabilities, supporting individuals to reach their aspirations and make choices about how to live their lives through three interlinked services.

The Role

They are now looking for an experienced Finance Assistant to join their team.

Key Accountabilities

  • Assisting with management accounting and reporting, variance/trend analysis, key performance measures, cost control, and risk management within the Trust
  • Budgeting and forecasting
  • Supporting year-end processing, including the preparation of financial reports such as accruals, pre-payments, debtors, and end-of-year journals
  • Supporting the project to migrate the accounting system from Sage to Xero
  • Managing Purchase Ledger: input and maintain supplier information on Sage/Xero, authorize payments by Senior Management, prepare weekly payment runs, and send monthly remittances
  • Managing Sales Ledger: input and maintain customer information on Sage/Xero, raise sales invoices and credit notes for all departments in accordance with deadlines
  • Handling petty cash banking, monthly petty cash counts, and reconciliations
  • Responsible for credit control, including chasing outstanding debts and monthly debtor reporting
  • Preparing monthly income and recharge reports for review
  • Monitoring, processing, and approving daily bank transactions, along with regular reconciliation of all bank accounts
  • Assisting with finance-related queries, filing, and other finance and administrative tasks as appropriate

The Candidate

  • Working knowledge of Xero and experience working within a finance department
  • Strong knowledge of accounting and cash flow management
  • Highly organized and numerate
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills
  • High level of confidentiality
  • DBS check required
  • Own vehicle for commute due to location

The Terms

  • Permanent role with a salary of £28,000-£35,000 FTE*
  • Approximately 30 hours per week, flexible working arrangements
