Electrical Site Manager

We are seeking a Freelance Electrical Site Manager to join a Tier 1 M&E contractor delivering high-value data centre projects across the UK and Europe. This role offers the opportunity to work on critical infrastructure in a fast-paced, high-spec environment alongside leading engineering professionals. You will play a key role in overseeing electrical installation works on site, with a strong emphasis on quality assurance, compliance, and coordination.

Key Responsibilities

• Site Management
  • Oversee day-to-day site operations for electrical installation works in live or new-build data centres.
  • Coordinate site labour, subcontractors, and third-party specialists.
  • Liaise with the Project Manager and client-side representatives to ensure smooth project delivery.
• Quality Assurance & Compliance
  • Implement and maintain site-specific QA/QC procedures for electrical packages.
  • Conduct quality inspections, prepare snag lists, and lead handover preparation.
  • Manage and close out non-conformance reports (NCRs) and address quality issues promptly.
  • Ensure documentation is completed in line with project QA protocols, including test certificates, as-builts, and commissioning records.
• Health & Safety
  • Enforce site health & safety standards including RAMS, toolbox talks, and permit-to-work systems.
  • Ensure compliance with CDM regulations, IET wiring regulations (BS 7671), and client-specific standards.
  • Promote and maintain a positive safety culture across the site.
• Progress & Reporting
  • Deliver weekly progress updates, QA status reports, and site photos to the project team.
  • Support the commissioning and integrated systems testing phases.
  • Assist with material tracking, delivery inspections, and supplier coordination.

Required Skills & Experience

• Proven experience managing electrical packages on critical infrastructure projects (e.g., data centres, hospitals, labs).
• In-depth knowledge of QA/QC processes and quality documentation.
• Comfortable working freelance or self-employed with minimal supervision.
• Relevant certifications: SMSTS, ECS/CSCS (Black or Gold Card), First Aid. HV/LV Authorisation is a plus.

Desirable

• Experience with hyperscale clients (Google, AWS, Microsoft, Meta, etc.).
• Familiarity with BIM workflows, commissioning protocols (Level 4 / 5), and QA turnover documentation.
• Understanding of temporary power systems, UPS installations, and generator backup.
