Mercure Canberra is one of the city’s first established hotels, combining old-world charm with modern comforts. The hotel is located moments from the CBD, as well as the National Convention Centre and Australian War Memorial.
We are looking for someone who has a friendly, customer-focused attitude with a passion to exceed guest expectations. This is a full-time role, reporting to the Food & Beverage Manager. You will be responsible for the efficient operation of the venue's Food & Beverage Outlets, as we continue to grow our business and provide a high-level guest experience.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting the Food & Beverage Department across all outlets including: Courtyard Restaurant, Olims Bar & Bistro, Bottle Shop, Room Service, Minibar and Conference & Events.
- Ensuring correct hotel policy & procedure is followed regarding opening & closing shifts; including cash handling and signing keys in/out.
- Ensuring the Food & Beverage Team provide efficient, friendly and professional service to all guests.
- Assisting with the induction of new team members into the department and ensuring adequate training takes place.
- Assist with on-going training projects within the department to meet brand & service standards.
- Greeting & welcoming guests, assisting with enquiries & restaurant bookings.
- Assist guests with menu offerings & maximize sales opportunities through product knowledge.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience in a similar role.
- The ability to lead, motivate and develop a successful team.
- A friendly, self-motivated personality.
- Confident and articulate communication, negotiation, relationship and networking skills.
- A demonstrated understanding of industry-related technology systems.
- Current RSA & RCG certificate.
- The ability to work a variety of shifts, including weekends, evenings & public holidays.
