Meet the person you’ll be supporting:

I am a social lady in my 50s, and I have full mental capacity. I love going to concerts and shows. I had a brain stem stroke, so I am paralysed from the neck down and have had locked in syndrome in the past. The stroke affected my ability to speak, so I communicate by using eye gaze. I have some clinical support needs, such as a tracheostomy, PEG feeding, stoma, catheter, and movement via a hoist and wheelchair.

What are my aspirations? I like to go out with my staff to Costa, concerts, shows and visit my local beer garden in the summer. I enjoy going out in my car and going shopping. When I’m home, I enjoy Netflix, and love to watch true crime!

What types of people do I get along with? People who have good communication skills are important to me, as I sometimes need encouragement and reassurance to do the things I enjoy, and stick to my routines. I have a really good sense of humour, and love a good laugh.

Where do I live and what is my house like? I live in Hoylake, near the beach in a nice quiet area.

My team:

Staff support me 2:1. Shift patterns include 8am – 8pm days, and 8pm to 8am night shifts are available. My team go through a comprehensive training and induction process, bespoke to me and my clinical support needs.
