Job Description:
Hybrid working, full-time permanent position offering up to £26,000 per annum depending on experience. An exciting opportunity to work for a specialist community-based law firm as a Court of Protection Caseworker has become available. Based in Birmingham, the successful candidate would be supporting vulnerable individuals, who lack the mental capacity to make their own key day-to-day decisions. This will include managing their financial affairs in a caring and compassionate way. Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Overseeing, setting, and maintaining clients’ personal and household budgets, including paying client bills
- Organising professional support for clients including therapists and care staff
- Responding to and resolving client emergencies in an efficient and supportive manner
- Account balancing and report writing
- Providing recommendations to the appointed deputy concerning financial requests, budgets, and changes in circumstances
- Working with and supporting incapacitous clients, helping them to live as well as possible
Although previous experience working in the Court of Protection is not essential, prospective applicants should have experience managing and supporting the needs of vulnerable adults in their day-to-day affairs including household budgets, property sales and purchases, understanding and overseeing investments, and arranging work to properties. The role requires an individual who is patient, compassionate, organized, has outstanding communication skills, and is committed to improving people’s lives; having developed the skills to manage individuals’ finances through previous life experience. Candidates must also hold a full driving license.
