To provide a Social Work service to individuals, their families, and carers by assessing and identifying their needs and meeting them through direct therapeutic work, care planning, and management.
Be able to integrate a theoretical approach with practice. Manage a caseload, exercising complex decision-making in line with professional criteria and ensuring that case work is appropriately planned, critically evaluated, and reviewed.
Engage effectively with situations of increasing complexity and challenge, including multi-agency input, complex family organizational dynamics, multiple problems/disadvantages, multiple significant risk factors, and the need to consider the public interest.
Ensure appropriate care for service users, utilizing existing mainstream and specialist resources effectively, and demonstrating innovation where appropriate. Accept responsibility for and supervise service users receiving care, undertaking expert and robust reviews of such cases.
Provide expert witness and give evidence to court and other relevant bodies, including presenting reports and applications for legal orders. Work in partnership with other agencies and organizations to fulfill the provision of social work services, representing the organization's perspective.
Maintain contact with statutory and voluntary sector professionals for information exchange, judgment exercise, and influencing outcomes in case planning and decision-making. Contribute to multidisciplinary assessments, chair and lead meetings when required, and participate in planning meetings and reviews, promoting information sharing.
Mentor newly qualified and less experienced social workers to develop their expertise and offer placements to social work students as a practice educator. Manage your workload effectively, seek support when necessary, undertake research, and apply knowledge of emerging best practices.
Participate in training, assist in developing resources, work on specialist projects, and contribute to professional development or service planning groups. Identify and act on your learning needs, participate in continuous professional development, including supervision and appraisal, in line with social work registration and HCPC standards.
