Company Overview

At Renew Risk, we aim to revolutionize risk analytics in renewable energy to accelerate the global transition to a sustainable future. By combining cutting-edge engineering, state-of-the-art catastrophe modelling, and strong partnerships, we deliver risk analytics specifically designed for renewable energy assets. Our journey began with building catastrophe models for offshore windfarms across the U.S., Taiwan, and Japan. Today, we are expanding into new region-perils and renewable energy asset types, including onshore solar and wind. Our vision is to establish a global ecosystem of risk analytics for renewable energy infrastructure, both offshore and onshore. We are a well-funded London-based startup, having recently closed a major funding round. With established global clients and partners, we are scaling rapidly and aim to triple our headcount in the next two years.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Risk Engineer to support and help lead delivery across our science and risk engineering workstreams. This hybrid technical and project-facing role sits within our Science Team and plays a key role in the delivery of engineering-led catastrophe analytics, including EML/PML studies, vulnerability research, and model calibration. This position is ideal for a professional engineer looking to transition from industry into a growing technical and client-facing role. You will help shape and deliver high-impact engineering reports, manage project workflows, and represent Renew Risk at client meetings and presentations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead delivery of offshore cable and windfarm EML/PML studies
  • Manage engineering workflows across modelling tools and scenario calculations
  • Develop and maintain structured Excel-based workflows for scenario and loss estimation
  • Interrogate and interpret results from numerical models (e.g., Abaqus, OpenSees, Monte Carlo)
  • Draft and coordinate engineering reports with support from specialists and collaborators

Client-Facing Support

  • Present findings to insurers, reinsurers, and developers in client meetings
  • Support pre-sales and client success meetings alongside Renew Risk’s commercial leads
  • Attend client sessions in London and support delivery workshops

Team and Project Management

  • Coordinate the Science Team’s project workstack across ongoing studies
  • Interface between internal stakeholders and academic collaborators
  • Track progress, assure quality, and maintain delivery timelines

Requirements

  • Chartered or near-chartered engineer (e.g. MICE, MIStructE)
  • Higher degree (MEng, MSc or PhD) in Civil, Structural, Mechanical or related engineering field
  • 3+ years of professional experience in renewables, offshore, or infrastructure sectors
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and client presentations
  • Organised, delivery-oriented, and able to manage complex technical workstreams
  • Experience in energy infrastructure or offshore renewables
  • Familiarity with catastrophe modelling, structural reliability, or probabilistic risk assessment
  • Experience managing simulation results and supporting engineering model calibration

Why Join Us?

  • Shape the future of engineering risk analytics in the energy transition
  • Work closely with leading experts in structural engineering and catastrophe modelling
  • Deliver high-impact projects across Europe, Japan, and beyond
  • Join a growing team with a mission-driven culture and strong industry backing
  • Competitive salary and stock options

This role is an excellent opportunity for an engineer ready to transition into a high-impact technical and client-facing role. If you are excited by renewables, risk, and real-world engineering problems, we would love to hear from you. Please note: This job description is not exhaustive and may evolve based on business needs.
