As a Senior User Experience Researcher at Autodesk, you will play a pivotal role in our team, focusing on delivering user-centered insights that inform and enhance the products and services that are used to build the world.
Reporting to the User Experience Research Manager as part of the AEC User Research Team, the Senior User Experience Researcher will collaborate with a talented team of UX Designers, Product Managers, Data Scientists, Engineers, and other key stakeholders. In this role, you will join a larger User Research team, contributing to innovative solutions that meet user needs and business objectives. The role will require top-notch research skills, along with a strategic mindset and the ability to collaborate with teams across the company. The ideal candidate must also be able to influence stakeholders through strong partnerships.

Responsibilities- Work closely with product teams to apply human-centered design practices to inform product and design decisions.
- Proactively plan and execute comprehensive user research projects and multi-phased programs throughout the design and development lifecycle, from early strategic direction through post-release validation.
- Develop a deep understanding of business goals and objectives, prioritising and synthesising insights to inform decision-making and providing strategic insights about customer needs and expectations.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and partners to ensure research is aligned with strategic priorities, is acted on and optimised for impact.
- Employ a wide range of research methods to drive product and organisational impact, including contextual inquiry, diary studies, interviews, formative and summative usability studies, and quantitative methods, such as surveys and data analytics.
- Collect and analyse data using advanced empirical and statistical methodologies to provide actionable insights.
- Communicate meaningful and actionable insights in compelling and impactful ways, providing comprehensive and well-supported recommendations.
- Design and facilitate workshops using advanced design thinking techniques to drive idea generation and activate research findings into strategies and outcomes.
- Coach and support non-researchers in adopting best practices to scale research activities.
- 5+ years of professional experience conducting and leading user experience research.
- An interest in and understanding of design software ideally with hands-on user research experience in this area.
- Strong understanding of human-centered design principles and practices.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesise complex data into clear and actionable insights.
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to build credibility and trust across the organisation.
- Experience working alongside data scientists to combine behavioural and attitudinal insights into a holistic narrative.
- Up-to-date toolkit of qualitative and quantitative research methods and tools, and the experience to determine the appropriate approach for each situation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple projects and priorities effectively.
- A solid foundation in problem-solving techniques, applying a holistic and logical approach to research and analysis.
- Comfort and familiarity with adopting AI tools and processes in research.
- Open-minded and experimental approach to problem-solving and research methodologies.
- Experience in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry.
- University degree in a related field such as Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction or a related/equivalent field.
- Familiarity with advanced design thinking techniques and their application in research activation.
- Experience coaching and mentoring non-researchers in best practices.
- Experience with mixed or multi-method research approaches.
- Your communication and storytelling skills are top-notch, allowing you to build credibility and collaborate with ease.
- You have a proven track record of designing and executing complex research studies using mixed methods.
