Kohler Mira Ltd is a successful multi-brand organisation that has grown significantly over 100 years and has always innovatively led the way in showering technology. Mira Showers is one of the best known, market leading UK brands of showering products, continuously developing innovative new domestic bathroom products for all types of plumbing systems. Our Rada Controls brand brings that same innovation and cutting-edge design to commercial washroom environments such as sports and leisure facilities, medical facilities and institutions with products specifically designed for commercial and public buildings.

We are looking for a Lead Electronics Engineer to join our New Product Development (NPD) department. NPD is a dynamic, fast-paced and focused department that is responsible for developing and delivering next generation bathing experiences. As a Lead Electronics Engineer within NPD, you will be responsible for oversight and delivery of hardware and firmware design on new products, from early concept through to end of life, ensuring compliance with industry standard design gate processes.

Your primary objective will be to work alongside your multi-discipline project team, and other Electronics Engineers, to contribute towards transitioning early development concepts into more advanced prototypes and ultimately a volume manufactured product. You’ll succeed by working through our robust, structured, design-gate process to ensure that the final design is delivered on-time, on-cost, and at high quality.

In addition to new product designs, there will also be opportunities to provide engineering and technical guidance to our product support and manufacturing teams. Even after a successful product launch, we continue our drive to improve product cost/quality through hardware design changes for easier manufacture, alternative component sourcing to ease supply chain constraints and analysing and fixing product software bugs reported through our field service and contact centre teams.

You’ll be developing hardware circuit designs from both first principles as well as ‘tried-and-tested’ designs, capturing your circuit designs in ECAD and transitioning them into a physical PCB design, working alongside mechanical engineers to ensure the design is right first time. You’ll also be developing the embedded software that will be loaded onto the product to ensure a polished and delightful customer experience with our product in addition to creating bespoke software deliverables for product compliance and development/endurance testing.

One of the key responsibilities within this role is to provide technical guidance and direction to the Marketing and Industrial Design teams in regard to emerging product technologies and feasibility as we drive our new product roadmap over the next 5+ years, adapting to challenging market conditions and finding new innovative ways to push the design envelope and raise customer expectations in increasingly commoditised markets.

There are many opportunities to grow your career at Kohler Co. You’ll be provided with support with developing a robust personal and technical development plan, mentoring from more senior team and department members and the opportunity for pursuing sponsored, formal accreditation such as Chartered Engineer status if desired.

The position reports into the Electronics and Connected Products Programme Manager and sits within a multi-disciplinary project team blending other business functions including mechanical engineering, manufacturing, marketing, product compliance, customer services, industrial design and external suppliers.
