Expressions is a year-long program of art groups and creative events. The focus has always been to make the arts accessible, interactive and a source of well-being. They run an art therapy group for the people we support every week on Tuesday and Wednesday morning at their studio, located at the Milestones head office in Staple Hill.
Can you help?
We are looking for enthusiastic people who have a keen interest in engaging with art, enjoy interacting with the people we support, are patient and have a positive and helpful attitude. Someone who is a practicing artist or has a creative background would be preferable, as there is always the opportunity to lead sessions and workshops.
Ideally, this would be a weekly or fortnightly role on the Wednesday session. A knowledge of mental health issues would be advantageous. Travel expenses are covered for each volunteering shift.
For all our volunteer roles, a DBS check will be carried out and we will request two references. All volunteers can attend an in-person volunteer induction and we offer online training alongside this. You will be supported by both the volunteer team and a designated member of staff in the service too.
You can apply for this role several ways:
- Fill out a word application form (standard or easy read) - please email us for a copy of this.
- Give us a ring and we can take down your details.
Milestones Trust is a health and social care charity supporting people with learning disabilities, mental health needs, and dementia. The Trust provides residential, nursing, and community support services to around 750 people living in the Bristol, South Gloucestershire, and North Somerset areas.
