The Role
We seek an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with a strong grasp of engineering principles to work on products within the IAS portfolio. Collaborating with local teams and stakeholders, you will produce detailed mechanical designs and support various Weapon System, Missile, and Platform products to meet customer needs. As we grow, we need engineers with a proven track record of applying excellent mechanical design processes to ensure project delivery and robust output.
Responsibilities
- Apply engineering fundamentals to resolve complex technical issues
- Drive quality and performance improvements in design
- Create detailed Mechanical Designs supported by CAE tools
- Maintain product documentation per department standards
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure robust designs
- Manage engineering change tasks, BOM, and process integrity
- Produce engineering drawings following BS 8888 standards
- Lead and participate in design reviews
- Lead Mechanical Work Packages
Essential Criteria
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 6+ years in Mechanical Design
- Proficiency in CAD software (Creo, Catia)
- Experience in Engineering Drawings, GD&T, BS 8888
- Experience with PLM software like Windchill
- Knowledge of Design for Manufacture principles
- Experience with BOM and Engineering Change processes
- Understanding of international standards in product design
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Knowledge of Environmental testing methods
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills
Desirable Criteria
- Experience with Six Sigma, APQP, DFMEA
- Leadership in DFMAT assessments
- Project management experience
- Team leadership experience
- Experience with CAM software and simulation tools
- Supplier and customer engagement experience
- Knowledge of Defence Standards
