GPN Recruitment are delighted to be working with a respected and progressive mid-sized accountancy firm in London who are seeking an Interim Accounts Manager to take ownership of a busy and varied portfolio of clients with a fee income of up to £700K. This is a hands-on, client-facing role with a split of approximately 90% accounts and 10% audit (or nil audit) suited to a commercially-minded qualified professional with strong technical expertise and staff management experience.
Working closely with partners and department heads, you will oversee a team of seniors, semi-seniors and trainees, and ensure delivery across a diverse client base.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a portfolio of clients across a range of sectors, ensuring quality and timely delivery of accounts and limited audit assignments
- Act as the primary contact for client queries, maintaining strong working relationships and providing strategic input
- Plan, review and finalise statutory accounts in line with FRS 102 and UK GAAP
- Lead on ad-hoc projects such as group restructures and sell-side diligence assignments
- Mentor junior staff, conduct regular reviews and ensure team progression
- Collaborate with internal tax and cloud accounting teams to provide a seamless client experience
- Identify process improvements to increase efficiency and ensure consistent workflows
- Liaise directly with partners and act as a reliable support on complex engagements
About You:
- ACA/ACCA qualified with 5+ years post-qualified experience
- Strong technical grounding in UK GAAP, FRS 102 and auditing standards
- Confident communicator with proven experience managing teams and liaising directly with clients
- Proficient in Xero, CCH, and Excel for forecasting and reporting
- Able to balance client delivery with internal leadership and staff development
- Commercially aware, dynamic, and proactive in identifying opportunities or risks within a portfolio
