Purpose of Role/Job Overview

Manage the Quality Assurance of product and system developments, including:

  • Design and production of test plans and test packs
  • Batch testing
  • Load testing
  • API testing
  • Automated testing
  • Support for audits, product development and underwriting when pricing queries arise, ensuring and proving that the product is working to specification.
  • General system and product support duties.

Tasks and objectives

  • Using analysis of test results, experience, and personal judgment to decide when testing of a product or system update is complete.
  • Promoting tested product or system developments to be ready for signoff by the requester or escalating for further analysis.
  • Providing comprehensive proof of testing and that all outcomes are to specification.
  • Organizing others effectively where additional resources are required.
  • Providing assurance to underwriting where price queries arise, using test packs or developing bespoke test plans as required.
  • Providing detailed, but easy-to-follow case analysis for audits.
  • Any other tasks reasonably required.

Reporting Lines - who the role reports to, and any responsibility for supervising other staff

Reports to Product Development Manager. Occasionally responsible for supervising other Technology team members when required for testing.

Personal Profile

Qualifications - Required

  • GCSE: English
  • GCSE: Mathematics

Desirable

  • GCSE: Computer Studies (or equivalent)
  • CII: FIT

Knowledge

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • A good understanding of the UK insurance market would be advantageous, preferably with experience working in the insurance or other financial industry.

Skills/Abilities/Competencies

  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Data analysis and ability to present findings in a manner suitable for the recipient
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • IT literacy; especially Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to learn new systems and procedures
  • Be able to work to tight deadlines and able to prioritise workloads
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to work

Experience

  • 3+ years test analysis experience
  • 1+ years' experience in the insurance or other financial industry
