This role is key to maintaining and developing the suite of Finance Systems used by PIC. The role will be responsible for the efficient operation of PIC Finance applications, in particular FCCS which is used for Financial and Statutory Reporting and CCH Tagetik which is used for Solvency II reporting during quarterly and annual reporting cycles. The role is part of a wider team that manages Finance Systems and reports through the Reporting and Financial Management function. The role requires the ability to solve problems and mitigate risks as they arise to ensure both a high quality and a timely delivery are achieved. Specific accountabilities assigned to the role of the Finance System Accountant within the Finance Systems Team:

  • Strong EPM (HFM or FCCS) finance systems knowledge of Process, Data and Metadata Structures and ability to develop and support reports using Smartview
  • Strong finance process understanding, at least in one of the following areas: General Ledger, Consolidation, Solvency II, Financial Reporting
  • Experience of maintenance and support of large-scale finance systems
  • Ability to work well on own and within a team environment
  • Customer focused mindset
  • Advanced knowledge of MS office products - in particular Excel
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Experience of working with third party providers to ensure the systems are working as required
  • Experience of effective presentation of financial information to finance and non-finance staff
  • An understanding of financial controls and reflecting these through workflows and controls on financial systems
  • Extensive experience with improving (and implementing) new finance process and procedures
  • Strong analytical, numeric and critical reasoning skills capable of delivering practical solutions to complex problems
  • Strong problem-solving skills with an ability to identify innovative yet practical solutions to complex problems
  • Ability to prioritise competing demands and tasks

Requirements

  • Good knowledge of the Insurance industry and the relevant reporting metrics such as IFRS and Solvency II.
  • Experience gained from other Finance System roles.
  • Understanding of life and pensions accounting
  • Extensive knowledge of each element of the Microsoft Office package
  • Life Insurance industry experience
  • Experience of Support and development of Oracle FCCS, Tagetik and Workiva
  • Experience of using the SmartView excel add-in
  • Knowledge of the regulatory reporting and the Solvency II regime.
