M. O’Connor Contracting, Inc., (MOCC) is seeking a highly experienced and driven Director of Field Operations to lead our construction field teams and ensure excellence in project delivery. This senior leadership role is critical in supervising field operations, promoting safety, ensuring quality and efficiency, and fostering professional growth among our team members.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise all Job-Site Superintendents and field personnel to maintain schedule adherence and quality standards
- Conduct daily check-ins with Superintendents to track milestones, scheduling, and productivity
- Interpret construction blueprints and provide technical direction
- Collaborate with executive leadership on project lifecycle planning and issue resolution
- Lead project kickoff meetings with internal teams and subcontractors
- Review and guide two-week lookahead schedules with field leadership
- Assist in drafting scopes of work and subcontractor agreements
- Monitor project schedules, budgets, and procurement planning
- Ensure compliance with local inspection requirements and obtain Certificates of Occupancy
- Conduct weekly site visits to all active projects
- Serve as a liaison between executive management and field operations
- Lead job site meetings and safety briefings
- Mentor junior staff and oversee on-the-job training initiatives
- Maintain and enforce the companywide Safety Program and OSHA standards
- Participate in hiring and training of field personnel
- Conduct performance reviews for Superintendents and other field staff
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering preferred
- Massachusetts Construction Supervisor License (Required)
- 10–15 years of experience in the construction industry, including at least 10 years in a supervisory/leadership role
- Advanced understanding of construction practices, materials, and safety regulations
- Demonstrated experience mentoring and training construction staff
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
