As a Funeral Service Operative, you’ll play a crucial role in caring for and preparing the deceased with dignity and respect. You will be based at one of our six Care Centres across London in Walthamstow, Kensington, Orpington, Kingston upon Thames, Camberwell, or Wembley, supporting our branch network and assisting with over 1,800 funerals per year.

As a 24-hour operation, we are here for families whenever they need us. Adaptability is key; this role requires flexibility to support families at any time, ensuring they receive the care and service they deserve.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Bringing the deceased into our care, both during and outside office hours.
  • Ensuring our funeral fleet is maintained to the highest standards.
  • Assisting with coffining duties, including dressing and placing the deceased into coffins with care and professionalism.
  • Participating in funeral services by bearing the coffin and driving company vehicles.
  • Supporting Funeral Directors with pre-funeral checks, including route planning and address verification.
  • Taking part in an on-call rota (as per individual branch schedules).
What We’re Looking For
  • A Full UK Manual Driving Licence (essential).
  • Physical ability to lift and carry heavy weights, following proper manual handling procedures.
  • Ideally, familiarity with the local community.
  • A commitment to outstanding customer service.
  • The ability to remain composed, professional, and empathetic in sensitive situations.
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to meet the needs of a 24-hour service.
  • A reliable, well-presented individual who strives for high personal and professional standards.
