This is an exciting opportunity to join the Children's Services Disability team. The successful candidate will join a team comprising a team leader, 3 FTE social workers, 5 practitioners, and 2 development workers. This team supports children and their families affected by disability by undertaking assessments of need (Section 23) and creating and reviewing packages of care. Applicants should be able to work creatively and flexibly to meet needs and be passionate about supporting families with disabilities.

As a newly formed team, this is an opportunity to be part of its development. Children's Services are eager to invest in their staff, recognizing the importance of a highly supportive working environment.

Knowledge

A degree in Social Work and registration with the SSSC as a Social Worker are essential. Disability experience is also essential.

Please note that it is Midlothian Council's policy that successful applicants will be appointed to the first point on the salary scale. The minimum actual salary for this position, based on working 22 hours over 52 weeks, is £25,545.87 per annum.

Requirements

This post is considered Regulated Work with Protected Adults and Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007. It is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with protected adults and children. Successful candidates will require PVG Scheme membership for Regulated Work with Protected Adults and Children. You will need to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check before starting employment with Midlothian Council, with the cost covered by you.
