We provide end-to-end solutions in electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, EV, metering, and home decarbonisation. This apprenticeship is part of our UK Power Networks contract, delivering substation build and refurbishment across East of England, including design, project management, cable installation, and more. Locations include Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Suffolk, Essex, Buckinghamshire & North London.
This program trains individuals to become fully qualified craft persons on the 11kV to 132kV distribution network.
What will you be doing?
- Electrical fitting on HV switchgear, transformers, and associated equipment
- Installation of control and protection equipment
- Installation of Earthing Systems
- Outdoor equipment installation such as Bus Bar, Disconnectors, Switchgear
- Maintenance and fault finding on HV and LV equipment
- Handling High Voltage documentation
What you’ll bring:
- Full driving licence and own car
- GCSEs in Mathematics and English (grades A-C or 9-5)
- Must be 18+ for safety reasons
- Interest in electronics, electricity, or engineering
- Teamwork skills
- Manual dexterity with hand tools
- Physical ability to work in confined spaces and all weather

Recruitment process:
- Video interview followed by assessment day on 10th July 2025 in Stevenage
- Background checks and drug/alcohol testing as required
Start date: 1st September 2025
Career development:
Starting pay: £10.50/hr, reviews every 6 months. Post-completion progression pathways discussed quarterly.
Programme structure:
Duration: 3 years. Training includes rotations and fieldwork, with accommodation provided during training.
Apprenticeship Development Scheme (ADS):
Mix of online and face-to-face sessions. Focus on soft skills and mental health support. Some sessions in England with expenses paid.
