We are seeking an Industrial Engineering Designer to ensure the industrialisation and introduction of new high-reliability products into production. The role involves designing new tooling and equipment to simplify the assembly of optical and electrical products, reducing build times, and supporting production efficiency.
Responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with Industrial and R&D Engineers on product design and industrialisation.
- Proposing new tooling concepts to simplify assembly and ensure reliable, consistent build methods.
- Suggesting alternative tooling solutions for various assembly requirements.
- Creating PowerPoint presentations for new tooling concepts.
- Designing tooling using Creo CAD to meet specifications for quotation, manufacturing, and 3D modeling.
- Working with tooling manufacturers to address technical questions and ensure timely delivery.
- Defining calibration and inspection requirements for tooling and maintaining relevant databases.
- Validating new tooling on mechanical models to ensure suitability.
- Training operators on new tooling and build processes.
- Overseeing the build of qualification models as part of the IED team, ensuring correct build methods and tooling use.
- Adhering to clean area environmental rules and safety procedures, including documentation, ESD, risk assessments, COSHH, and manual handling regulations.
- Writing build specifications for new products, ensuring correct operation sequences and tooling use.
Education, Qualifications, and Experience:
- Mechanical Engineering Degree.
- Experience with Creo CAD software.
- Ability to make reliability engineering judgments under pressure.
- Experience in technical or manufacturing environments.
- Organized, disciplined, and methodical problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal and team skills.
- Proficiency with Excel and Word.
- Experience with SAP.
