We’re looking for a motivated and solutions-oriented Financial Services Lawyer to join our legal team on a 12-month fixed-term contract at Tesco Bank, part of Barclays Bank UK Plc. Our Legal Team oversees all aspects of Tesco Bank's business and acts as strategic advisors to our colleagues. This is a career-defining opportunity to be at the forefront of the integration of Tesco Bank and Barclays, two market-leading brands.
What you’ll be doing:
- As Legal Counsel, you will be part of the wider Barclays UK Legal function, specializing in consumer bank lending and savings products.
- Your responsibilities include:
- Managing legal risk and providing targeted, commercially-focused legal advice on matters across Tesco Bank, including:
- Product terms and conditions and related documentation
- Customer journeys and communications
- Responding to operational, complaint, and process queries
- Managing outsourced legal advice
- Supporting the integration of Tesco Bank with the wider Barclays business
We need you to have:
- Qualified solicitor with a valid practising certificate in the UK (overseas certificates may be considered)
- Experience in retail banking law, either in-house or in private practice
- A track record of delivering pragmatic, risk-based legal advice
- Strong relationship management skills with internal and external stakeholders
And if you have any of these, even better:
- Experience in consumer credit and CONC, including understanding of FCA’s Consumer Duty
- Experience with non-lending consumer banking products
