Overview

The Christie lab, led by neuroscientist Isabel Christie, focuses on the metabolic regulation of the mammalian brain, particularly gas homeostasis and oxygen regulation, using MRI and two-photon imaging in animal models. The role is a 12-month research assistant position with potential progression to a PhD based on performance.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Order and track consumables
  • Assist with in vivo physiology and pharmacology experiments
  • Support pre-clinical MRI experiments
  • Prepare pharmacological solutions
  • Handle animals and learn microsurgery skills
  • Perform other duties as required

Person Specification

Applicants should have a BSc in Pharmacology, Physiology, Biochemistry, Neuroscience, or a related field, and demonstrate interest in PhD studies, hypothesis-driven research, and software proficiency (ImageJ, Matlab, GraphPad Prism, R).
