The role involves working with a range of lifting and transport equipment including mobile cranes, Goliath crane, overhead travelling cranes, forklift trucks, SPMT’s (Self-Propelled Modular Transporter’s) and mechanical handling equipment. Day-to-day, you’ll be executing lifting operations in a safe and controlled manner in accordance with the Lifting Operations Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER) 1998 and job specific method statements.
- Lifting & turning of plates, units & equipment
- Daily routine maintenance checks including pre / post use checks of lifting equipment and operational planning
- General slinging, fleeting & transportation tasks
- Forklift / sideloader / telehandler / SPMT / MEWPS (Mobile Elevating Work Platforms) / overhead crane operations
- Ensure safe working practices adhered to at all times under “safety first” culture
Please note that this position involves working at height. Candidates must be able to work safely and perform tasks at varying heights. This role is full time, 36 hours per week and is based on site at our Rosyth site.
Essential experience of the Slinger:
- Previous experience in slinging / rigging with the use of a range of equipment (Plate / bulbar / beam clamps, magnets, vacuums etc.)
- Health and Safety awareness
- Strong organisation and problem solving
- Good communication and collaboration
Qualifications for the Slinger:
- Recognised slinger signaller qualification - Min NVQ2 or equivalent.
- OHT Crane Certificates (Desirable but not essential)
- MEWPS Training, IPAF (Desirable but not essential)
Security Clearance: The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. Many of the positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions.
