ORKNEY HEALTH AND CARE Telecare/Mobile Community Responder Service

Hours are offered on an as and when required basis £18.15 per hour (Including Distant Islands Allowance). A shift allowance will be paid for unsocial hours worked where appropriate.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Relief Responder Services Co-ordinator within the Telecare/Mobile Community Responder Service. Working as part of a highly motivated team, you will provide day to day operational management to the Telecare Systems Administrator and the two Responder Teams, ensuring that service provision is effective and efficient and delivered in line with the Health and Social Care Standards.

The Responder Teams work across mainland Orkney on a twenty-four hour, seven days a week basis and their duties include:

  • responding to Community Care Alarm call outs;
  • carrying out installations/removals of telecare/community care alarm equipment;
  • undertaking reviews of service provision and equipment testing;
  • assisting to support the prevention of hospital admissions as well as facilitating hospital discharges.

The Responder Teams are also required to carry out installations, reviews of service provision and equipment testing for individuals residing on a number of the ferry linked isles.

The role of Responder Services Co-ordinator is fast paced and dynamic and you will be required to have experience of assessment and care planning; telecare systems and equipment and have previously worked with people in a social care service. You will also be able to demonstrate an understanding of using a reablement approach to service delivery and an ability to comprehend technical programming of Community Care Alarm equipment. Having staff supervisory experience would be advantageous.

To undertake this exciting role you must hold an HNC or SVQ 3 in Care or other relevant qualification to enable registration with the SSSC OR demonstrate an ability to achieve the required qualification within 5 years. You are required to register with the SSSC in the capacity of supervisor within 6 months of appointment.

This post is subject to membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with adults. You should be able to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service.
