What we are looking for: We are looking for a professional and experienced Hygiene Team Leader to join our Hygiene team. You will carry out all tasks as delegated by the Hygiene Manager/Supervisor to the highest standards and help install confidence in both Technical, Production, and Icelandic customers. You will ensure that all staff employed are properly supervised in accordance with their job descriptions and complete their tasks as per the cleaning schedules on a daily basis. The role may change as the business develops.
As a Hygiene Team Leader, some of the responsibilities will be to:
- Supervise all personnel employed on the Hygiene Team throughout their shifts, providing guidance, training, and tasking to all full-time operatives and agency staff.
- Ensure compliance with Company Policies & Procedures.
- Ensure that all staff are in to work on time and properly dressed in accordance with the Company Dress codes prior to the commencement of their shift.
- Ensure all staff go on break and return from break at the right time. The Supervisor must be kept informed of any issues or problems that arise.
- Ensure that all staff have the required chemicals and equipment to complete all tasks specified by the cleaning schedules and in accordance with the Cleaning Instruction Cards.
- Conduct a pre-clean inspection prior to cleaning operatives commencing work in each department and at the end, and perform spot checks within departments. Any problems encountered must be documented on the forms provided, and corrective action taken.
- Conduct regular checks of cleaning procedures by Hygiene Team members in each department and give advice, guidance, and instructions to rectify all issues accordingly by conducting “Spot Checks” and recording the information on the cleaning records.
- Ensure that site H&S procedures & policies are followed and that staff follow correct PPE procedures in accordance with CIC’s/Risk Assessments/SSOW’s/Procedures/Policies.
- Be responsible for ensuring the factory is cleaned to specification to prevent microbiological, chemical, and foreign body contamination of products.
- Fully acquaint yourself with all Cleaning Instruction Cards and schedules for all departments; this will provide you with the relevant knowledge to ensure that the operatives are following the instructions laid down.
- Play an active role in departments that are short-staffed during holiday and sickness; a hands-on approach is required throughout.
- Ensure that the staff stores all chemicals and cleaning equipment away at the end of their shift in the designated area, which must be locked to reduce the risk of chemical contamination.
- Conduct a routine check of all departments once all cleaning has been completed to ensure that the departments are left clean and tidy, and where necessary hand over to Production.
- Fill in during periods of absence for the Hygiene Supervisor to ensure that administration procedures are maintained.
- Conduct microbiological & ATP swabbing as and when required, process the documentation for collection, and include Gateway.
- Conduct chemical titration checks in accordance with the schedule.
- Complete RTW (Return to Work) forms.
- Conduct sections of staff appraisals.
- Additional responsibilities will form part of your role as a Team Leader when detailed by the Hygiene Manager or Supervisor.
To succeed as a Hygiene Team Leader, we ask that you have the following experience/expertise:
- A minimum of 1 year of experience.
- Knowledge and experience of industrial deep cleaning procedures.
- Supervisory skills.
- COSHH – experience in handling and use of chemicals.
- Experience in manual handling procedures.
- Health & Safety awareness.
- Chemical Awareness Training.
- Basic Health & Safety.
- Intermediate Food Hygiene.
