As one of our Installation Specialists based in one of our Customer Delivery Hubs, you'll have the unique opportunity to bring our distinctive John Lewis service right to our customers' doors and install the products they love into their homes (such as furniture, kitchen appliances, sound systems, and TV sets) as part of a two-person delivery crew.

Location: Lister Street CDH (Glasgow)

Salary:

  • Driver Trainee: £26,700 (Annual)
  • Installer Trainee: £29,000 (Annual)

Eligibility: All applicants must be over 18 due to role requirements.

Driver Trainee Responsibilities:

  • Complete the 12-month Customer Delivery Driver Trainee programme to become a fully qualified John Lewis Customer Delivery Installer by meeting the relevant criteria.
  • Be an ambassador for the John Lewis brand with great customer service as your number one priority.
  • Assist in loading your vehicle with the daily deliveries while collaborating with the warehouse team.
  • Show great respect and courtesy for the customer's home and handle unexpected situations to find the best possible solution for your customers.
  • Install products efficiently and demonstrate how they work once installed.
  • Stay updated with new products and technologies to perform your role at your best.
  • Maintain a safe working environment.
  • This role involves heavy lifting: you will spend a lot of time delivering large items such as sofas, white goods, sports equipment, furniture, beds, and mattresses.

Essential Skills/Experience for Driver Trainee:

  • UK B-Category manual driving licence with no more than 6 points.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills both over the phone and face-to-face.
  • Good understanding of technology and an interest in installation.

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Previous experience of installation and customer delivery driving.

Driver Installer Trainee Responsibilities:

  • Complete the 3-month Customer Delivery Installer Trainee programme to become a fully qualified John Lewis Customer Delivery Installer.
  • Your day will start at the delivery hub before heading out on route. Responsibilities include:
  • Being an ambassador for the John Lewis brand with great customer service.
  • Loading your lorry with the day's deliveries alongside the warehouse team.
  • Showing respect and courtesy for the customer's home and handling unexpected situations.
  • Installing products efficiently and demonstrating their use.
  • Keeping up to date with new products and technologies.
  • Maintaining a safe working environment.
  • This role also involves heavy lifting, delivering large items such as sofas, white goods, sports equipment, furniture, beds, and mattresses.

Essential Skills/Experience for Driver Installer Trainee:

  • Manual C1 UK driving licence (max 6 points).
  • DCPC (Drivers Qualification Card) and Tachograph Card.
  • Experience driving a 7.5-tonne vehicle.
  • Experience in a customer-facing role.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Good understanding of technology.

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Installation and disconnection of white goods.
  • TV installation.
  • Assembly of flat pack furniture.

Full-time hours (41 hours/week), working 06:00-17:00, Monday to Saturday, on a 7-week rolling rota.
