Our client is seeking a Quality Assistant to join their small Quality Assurance and Compliance team in Kettering.
About The Department
The Quality department currently consists of a small group of individuals responsible for implementing and maintaining the Quality systems within the Group. They operate at all levels and areas within the business, supported by several systems coordinators in testing departments. They manage two formal quality management systems: EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and EN ISO/IEC 17065:2012, along with corporate procedures covering all areas, including those outside the scope of these systems. The activities under EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017 include testing a wide range of consumer goods and personal protective equipment, requiring a supporting quality system. This involves calibrating specialized equipment, and the role involves ensuring compliance with EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standards.
About The Role
As a Quality Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing and validating calibration procedures for internal equipment calibration, ensuring they meet all standards and specifications, including providing validation data.
- Creating uncertainty of measurement budgets for equipment and test methods.
- Checking acceptance criteria for externally calibrated equipment.
- Coordinating proficiency testing for internal calibration activities.
- Creating validation data for software used in calibration activities, mainly validating Excel workbooks and formulas.
- Assisting with internal audits and reviewing flexible scope applications.
- Collating and analyzing monthly statistics.
- Coordinating and participating in UKAS visits and scope extension activities.
- Training will be provided as needed.
About You
You should be patient, self-motivated, methodical, detail-oriented, well-organized, and capable of working independently. Key skills include a good understanding of statistics, mathematics, and a general knowledge of physics. Proficiency in Word and Excel at a high level is essential. Transferable experience or background in testing or calibration laboratories will be advantageous.
