Working under the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Mechanic supports the operational efficiency of the production department by responding to breakdown calls, troubleshooting, analyzing, and repairing mechanical equipment. Continuously promotes understanding of safety while following all established safety procedures.
Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities:- Receiving work from shift supervisor or manager and carrying out assigned duties timely and accurately.
- Responds to breakdown trouble calls and brings machines back to their accurate running state, including troubleshooting, diagnosing, and fixing problems related to electrical and mechanical equipment or process failures.
- Participate and collaborate with operations personnel to ensure efficient production and minimize downtime.
- Complete assigned scheduled Preventative Maintenance (PM) work on industrial bakery associated machines.
- Dismantle, repair and reassemble gear boxes, fans, conveyors, blowers, compressors, pumps, valves, furnaces, drives and all bakery mechanical equipment.
- Read and understand electrical schematics/ mechanical blueprints.
- Maintain company documentation as needed.
- Promotes safety by understanding and aligning with safety procedures and reporting all incidents in a timely manner.
- Follows Federal, State, City and A.I.B. Health and Safety Standards, including OSHA (State and/or Federal) and Hazardous Material regulation.
- Acts as a Safety champion, ensuring that team culture embodies a “safety first, safety always” attitude.
- Ensures compliance with all King’s Hawaiian policies and procedures (Safety, EEO, Sexual Harassment, Quality, etc.).
- Performs other duties as required which are reasonably within scope of this role.
- High school diploma, or GED equivalent.
- Minimum 1 year of progressively responsible experience in manufacturing maintenance.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals written in English.
- Ability to write routine quality assurance reports and correspondence in English.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measurement using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Proficiency with all MS Office Applications (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Ability to read mechanical/electrical blueprints and schematics.
- Experience in food manufacturing environment.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees.
- English/Spanish bilingual.
- Technical or vocational training from an accredited institution.
- Working knowledge of Autonomous Maintenance and Total Productive Maintenance.
- Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and compressed air systems.
- Proficient in machining, welding (SMAW, GMAW, GTAW).
- Proficient with CMMS/SOMAX.
- Proficient with Excel and/or Tableau for dashboard building.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, taste, or smell. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 - 25 pounds, and occasionally more than 50 pounds with assistance from co-worker and/or mechanic devices.
Work Environment:While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. Occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee will be handling items that may be hot. The noise level is usually moderate. Must be available to work overtime, nights, weekends, and Holidays.
