Newcom have been manufacturing precision machined parts and light assembly work for our local, national and international customers, mainly in the Technical, Precision, Audio & Medical Instrumentation fields since 1989. With the help of our dedicated team of professionals, we pride ourselves in being one of the main sub-contract precision engineering companies in the local area.
We have a wide range of 30 CNC machines varying from 500 up to 1600 vertical mills, a number of horizontal twin pallets & 5 Axis mills in our milling section. Our turning section consists of a range of fixed head lathes, 5 with live tooling, milling capabilities and a few of these with transferable sub-spindle. We have recently invested in our first sliding head lathe which is due to be installed April 2025.

Role Description
These are 2 full-time, on-site roles for a CNC Machinist, 1 Miller & 1 Turner located in Earith. The CNC Machinist will be responsible for operating and maintaining CNC mills or lathes, following machining instructions, performing milling or turning operations, and ensuring quality control. The CNC Machinist will be expected to read and interpret engineering drawings, set up tools, and work with a variety of materials to produce precision parts.
Qualifications
- Machine Operation and Machining skills: Experience in operating and maintaining CNC machines
- Milling or Turning skills: Proficiency in performing milling or turning operations
- Programming skills: Experience using and writing programs with Fanuc and/or Heidenhain controls
- Quality Control and Machinery skills: Ability to ensure quality control and work with various measuring tools and equipment
- Strong attention to detail and precision
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot issues
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Experience working in a manufacturing or engineering environment is a plus
- Relevant certifications or technical training in CNC machining is advantageous
