Sentara is hiring a Specialty Pharmacy Technician for our Case Management team at Norfolk General Hospital. $5,000 Sign on Bonus for Qualified Candidates!
Location: Norfolk, VA
Status: Full Time (40 hrs/wk)
Shift: Rotating Days shift
Hours: 8am-4:30pm / 8:30am-5pm / 9:30am-6pm Occasional Saturdays
The Specialty Pharmacy Tech performs the technician responsibilities in specialized areas of pharmacy practice under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner.
- Demonstrates advanced technical skills and ownership of the work area
- Demonstrates the ability to competently work independently in defined specialized areas of pharmacy practice
- Training in advanced Specialist Pharmacy Technician job functions
- Assumes local and/or system responsibility for assigned tasks related to advanced specialist job positions
- Participates in the training of new employees
- Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner as required by specialty position
- Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care
- Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as needed
- Uses appropriate systems for processing patient information
- Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements
- Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately
A pharmacy technician license is required in the state of practice.
Education
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
Certification/Licensure
- Virginia Pharmacy Tech License (Required)
- CPhT License (Received through the NHA or PTCB) (Preferred)
Experience
- 2 Years Pharmacy Experience (Required)
