We currently have openings for Apprentices working within our Pilot Plant as shift-working Pharmaceutical Operators. If you're interested in gaining experience in large-scale API manufacture while studying for a B.Sc. in Chemistry, this could be the opportunity for you. Our pilot plant can produce a range of products, both developmental and commercial, at large scale. This role offers an exciting chance to develop your skills and knowledge, working with various equipment and running multiple chemical syntheses, many of which have not been performed at scale before.

Role Details

  • Type: Apprenticeship
  • Location: Milton Park, Abingdon, Oxfordshire, UK
  • Salary: £22,000 plus shift allowance of £8,196
  • Hours: 12-hour shifts (days and nights) including paid breaks of 90 minutes

Shift Pattern

  • Week 1: 2 Day shifts, 2 Night shifts, 3 days off
  • Week 2: 2 Days off, 2 Day shifts, 3 Night shifts
  • Week 3: 4 Days off, 3 Day shifts
  • Week 4: 2 Night shifts, 5 Days off

Responsibilities

  • Operate the pilot plant reactors and equipment following SOPs and maintain safety, hygiene, and quality standards.
  • Follow written instructions accurately.
  • Report irregularities immediately to supervisors or managers.
  • Complete documentation accurately and record irregularities.
  • Support environmental monitoring and record data.
  • Perform routine maintenance and reconfiguration of equipment to ensure safe and timely production.
  • Participate in training and continuous improvement projects.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Equivalent of A-level in Chemistry
  • Desirable: awareness of cGMP, regulatory, and pharmaceutical standards
  • Strong planning, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Effective time management and multitasking abilities
  • Flexible, adaptable, and proactive problem-solving skills
  • Accountability and contribution to shift handovers
  • Good liaising skills with various departments
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
