Role Overview
The Despatch Operator will be responsible for accurately dispatching daily shipments, improving quality control procedures within the despatch area, and providing cover in Stores when needed. This role involves physical and administrative tasks related to shipping, receiving, storing, and distributing products, merchandise, and materials. Key duties include checking goods against purchase orders, packaging, preparing shipment documentation, and maintaining accurate records.
Responsibilities
- Deliver products via company van where possible and requested.
- Pack and dispatch customer orders and returns following specific instructions.
- Ensure all relevant paperwork accompanies goods and is correctly completed.
- Report discrepancies between orders and paperwork to the Production Controller or Manager.
- Prepare for dispatch based on daily sheets and production plans, including labeling and paperwork.
- Maintain stock levels of packing materials.
- Use ERP system for stock management and record all movements.
- Manage courier pickups and deliveries.
- Recycle and dispose of materials responsibly, keeping the area tidy.
- Complete and sign tracking sheets for dispatched goods.
- Prepare customer orders and returns with appropriate packing and paperwork.
- Support all business areas in fulfilling dispatch requirements.
- Record serial numbers and material movements in the ERP system and provide lists to customers when needed.
- Follow safety guidelines and use PPE appropriately.
Qualifications
- At least 2 years of experience in a despatch or stores environment.
- Experience with secure packaging and suitable packaging solutions.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and stock control systems.
- Knowledge of courier booking and packing documentation.
- A full clean driving license is desirable.
- Proficient in English reading, writing, and understanding.
