An exciting opportunity has arisen within Children’s Hearing Services at Chesterfield Royal Hospital for us to offer a permanent Band 6 position at 22.5 hours per week. As an IQIPS accredited service, we offer the opportunity to work within a highly skilled team as a qualified audiologist, allowing you to develop and extend your educational and clinical skills while participating in clinical audits to contribute to service development.

A dedicated team of 4 Paediatric Audiologists, 5 Clinical Scientists, and 4 Newborn Hearing Screeners works with Derbyshire Hearing Support (Education) Services, Paediatric Consultant with a special interest in aetiological investigations, and the ENT Service. Our service provides a range of routine and specialist services including newborn hearing diagnostics, hearing rehabilitation, tinnitus management, and APD assessment for referrals from 0-16 years (19 for young people with complex needs). Clinics are held at Chesterfield Royal Hospital and Buxton Health Centre, therefore a car driver with a full current driving licence is essential for this role. (For disabled applicants, suitable alternative arrangements may be agreed if necessary).

Main duties of the job

Working as a member of the Children’s Hearing Service, the post holder will provide age-appropriate audiological assessments and hearing aid provision/follow-up rehabilitation within the Paediatric Audiologist-led service. This will include providing information, advice, and emotional support to patients and their relatives/carers referred for investigation, diagnosis, and treatment.

Qualifications
  • BSc/MSc in Audiology (or equivalent)
  • AHCS or HCPC registered
Experience
  • Previous experience in NHS Audiology at Band 5 level or above
  • Evidence of ongoing continuing professional development
Skills
  • Good oral and written communication, interpersonal skills
  • Evidence of CPD
  • Experience of IQIPS accreditation
